![]() ![]() ![]() The file played perfectly over Plex on the bedroom TV in 4k and HDR. I played it in the theater on the projector and it looked good.so just need to confirm. I am still unclear about how "downscaling" with Kodi playing 4k videos on a 1080p display actually works. Not gonna waste time, disc space and $$ ripping 4k discs, if the result in the main home theater is worse than a regular BD rip. Insert the 4K Blu-ray disc into your Blu-ray drive and then kick off MakeMKV. While having the 4k in the bedroom is nice.my primary concern is still with the main home theater, so do not want to be watching a "degrated" image. Download MakeMKV from online and install it on your computer. ![]() It converts the video clips from proprietary (and usually encrypted) disc into a set of MKV files, preserving most information but not changing it. MakeMKV is a format converter, otherwise called 'transcoder'. I suppose I should also rip the regular BD and do a comparison or maybe just compare to the actual BD in the BD player. The first such change is with the second m2ts file in each playlist (00801.mpls uses 344.m2ts, 00802.mpls uses 357.m2ts, and 00800.mpls uses 320.m2ts) Now that we know what m2ts files to key in on, navigate to the files via Windows Explorer (Disc -> BDMV -> Stream) and play each m2ts, looking for what the difference could be. MakeMKV is your one-click solution to convert video that you own into free and patents-unencumbered format that can be played everywhere. The one thing I am not sure about is when I play the file in my 1080p theater (Odroid C2 running Kodi) is the "downscaled" image equivalent to what it would have been if it was a rip from the regular BD for the movie. Yesterday, I got the 4k BD for John Wick 2 and ripped it 1-1.came out at around 70gb. I recently got a 4k/HDR tv for my bedroom so now I am thinking about getting 4k discs going forward so I can watch them in 4k in the bedroom if I want. Click to expand. My main theater is still 1080p (Sony 40es projector).and I have been using Makemkv to rip all my blurays(currently at around 200 or so). ![]()
